OnePlus Cardboard VR Headsets For OnePlus 2 Launch ‘Out of Stock’ Already

Following the official announcement that the upcoming OnePlus 2 flagship device will be launched via a virtual reality event, the Chinese manufacturer OnePlus is now giving away a cardboard VR headsets for just $0 + $5 shipping and handling charges.

The OnePlus cardboard will ship on July 10 and expected to reach the consumers in a span of 10 to 15 days, before the OnePlus 2 virtual reality event on July 27. The event will kick off at 7 p.m. PT and will be live streamed around the world. The cardboard is already out of stock, Engadget reported.

The company, stating that the OnePlus Cardboard is out of stock, as shared a link to simple DIY version, along with the suggestion of purchasing one of the other headsets available. However, the users from India will be able to purchase OnePlus cardboard through the Amazon India, in the third week of July, according to OnePlus Forums.

The new cardboard VR headset is said to feature improvements on Google Cardboard, in terms of design. OnePlus cardboard is nearly 20 percent smaller, with a special dirt and oil-resistant film, and is made of a thicker and tougher cardboard material in comparison to the Google Cardboard. The headset will work with any device up to 6 inches.

Earlier this week, the company opened a contest to give away 1,000 OnePlus cardboard headsets completely for free, in an effort to promote the OnePlus One successor.

OnePlus 2 is expected to have only a few design tweaks like a metal frame with black matte finish, and sport a similar design to its predecessor. The upcoming flagship device will reportedly run on v2.1 of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810, and feature USB Type-C connectivity. The company has not revealed any other details about the device till date.
