Whoopi Goldberg's Latina ‘The View’ Co-Host Rosie Perez: It's Bittersweet

Rosie Perez, the first ever Latina co-host of "The View," leaves the ABC talk show after one season.

Rosie Perez, the first ever Latina co-host of "The View," was emotional when she talked about her decision to leave the ABC daytime show on the episode aired on July 8, Wednesday. During the episode, the Oscar-nominated "Fearless" actress cried repeatedly.

"I've decided that it's time to move on. It's very bittersweet for me," Perez said adding that she will miss her "The View" co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Nicole Wallace. Prior to this, "The View" executive producer Bill Wolff announced that she would be leaving the show.

Perez said she is excited about her future. Before they took their seats around the table on "The View" episode on July 8, Wednesday, Goldberg and Wallace joined her for a group hug, which made her tear up. The three then held hands across the table.

After thanking the two for their friendship, Perez called Goldberg "truly the captain of the ship." She also thanks Wolff, Disney-ABC Television Group president Ben Sherwood  and ABC News executives Barbara Fedida and Tom Cibrowski for the opportunity, saying, "I will be forever grateful."

"It's a huge honor to be first Latina on 'The View,'" Perez said. "What the hell took you all so long? I do not have one regret coming to this show. I would do it all over again. And it's all due to you, the fans."

In closing, Perez thanked her fans in Spanish, saying "Gracias, mi gente."

New "The View" co-host Raven-Symone and guest co-host Michelle Collins were also on Perez's last episode on the show.
