The latest "Modern Family" season 7 spoilers revealed that the premiere episode will focus on Haley (Sarah Hyland) and Andy's (Adam Devine) relationship. In the season 6 finale, the two finally admitted that they have feelings for one another, however, Andy has decided to put those feelings aside and propose to his girlfriend Beth (Laura Ashley Samuels).
In an interview with Variety, "Modern Family" co-creator Steven Levitan revealed that they have long wanted to add another cast member to be Haley's love interest. He said that they wanted a character similar to Phil (Ty Burrell) who is just so naïve and optimistic that he would definitely get the eldest Dunphy's attention. At first, Haley would make fun of him for his dedication towards Beth but eventually realize that she has always wanted someone like him.
Levitan shared that they were surprised with how fans reacted to the Haley and Andy story arc. He said that they immediately signed him to do 10 episodes after they saw the chemistry between Hyland and Devine. Julie Bowen, who plays Claire in the sitcom, shared that even her own in-laws were obsessed with Haley and Andy. She hoped that two will eventually figure out that they are perfect for each other.
Meanwhile, Venture Capital Post reported that the writers are thinking of shaking up Cam (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitch's (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) relationship. It was said that the couple will have a huge fight that ends with one asking for a divorce. Mitch and Cam will reportedly spend some time apart in order to figure out what is best for their marriage Lily.
