Microsoft is doing a surprising move with discontinuing MSN apps like Health and Fitness, Travel and Food as well as the Photosynth app.
Though the Photosynth can still be utilized, it is no longer associated with Microsoft and it will not receive any kind of support in the future. The users, however, are free to use the app on their own discretion.
Meanwhile, Photosynth posted an announcement on their site stating that they are retiring the app.
"We are doing this because the new Photosynth Preview technology and its cloud processing is a more immersive way to capture a place than the spherical panoramas that our apps produce," according to their announcement.
For users who would still like to continue using the app, they are encouraged to transfer their panoramas to Photosynth.net so the site's server can save their files. The privacy options on the panoramas can be edited to Public or Unlisted.
According Windows Central, Microsoft decided to kill these apps was based on the company's evaluation, these apps no longer appeal to the company's broader consumer focus.
Microsoft added that they are focusing on other apps like News, Weather, Sports and Money which will be available on the new Windows 10 platform.
On the other hand, MSN Food & Drink and MSN Travel will be officially gone starting Sept. 28, while MSN Health Fitness will stay a little bit longer but will also be shut down on Nov. 1. Once all of these apps are deactivated, they will be removed on Google App Store and iOS Store.
