The latest “Grey’s Anatomy” season 12 spoilers hinted that Katherine Heigl may possibly return in the coming episodes. Co-star Camilla Luddington, who plays Jo in the ABC series, shared that she could really see how Izzie’s return could fit in the storyline.
In an interview with TV Line, Luddington said that bringing back Heigl's character would be "nuts." She also perceived that it would create a lot of drama among characters, which could be good for the show's ratings.
When "State of Affairs" got cancelled, many "Grey's Anatomy" fans hoped that Heigl will be reprising her role as Dr. Izzie Stevens in the series. The actress, however, recently denied such rumors and said that there is no possibility that she will come back.
It has long been rumored that Heigl left "Grey's Anatomy" because of misunderstandings with series creator Shonda Rhimes. In an interview with Extra, host Mario Lopez asked the actress what she thought of the disparaging comments she received from her former boss.
Heigl said that she has nothing negatives to say about Rhimes. The actress added that she is a big fan of "Scandal" and watches it every week. She said that she was sorry that she left the show leaving a "crappy impression" on Rhimes and added that she would want to change that given the chance.
Despite wanting to make amends, Heigl confirmed that she had no plans of returning to "Grey's Anatomy." She revealed that she wanted to take some time off and be with her family for a while. The actress shared that she has lost sight of what is truly important when she was on the show.
