Kratos Returns With ‘God Of War 3 Remastered’ For PlayStation 4

Kratos is about to battle Hades in God of War III - Remastered Edition.

The "God of War 3 Remastered" for the PlayStation 4 was released on July 14. The remastered version of the game, featuring the fictional Greek demigod Kratos, was released as part of the 10th year anniversary of the "God of War" series of video games.

As the Remastered title suggests, no new content was added to the game. Among the upgrades the game's developer made were focused on frame rate, lighting, texture and resolution.

The original "God of War 3" was released exclusively on PlayStation 3 and only supports 720p resolution with a frame rate of about 30 frames-per-second at most. The Remastered edition boasts an upgraded 1080p high-definition resolution and an upgraded frame rate that can reach up to 60 frames-per-second.

The game's developer, Sony Santa Monica Studios, also made an impressive job of in upgrading the game's graphics that features up-to-date lighting and texture technology, according to IGN. A new photo mode was also added and allows gamers to take an in-game snapshot which can then be shared to other players.

Santa Monica Studios has also tapped the service of art company iam8bit along with artists like Doaly, Jim Rugg and Nimit Malavia to create posters based on whole "God of War" saga, according to the official PlayStation blog.

The first two "God of War" games were released on the PlayStation 2 platform. "God of War 3" was released on the PlayStation 3 platform in 2010. Excluding all collections and remastered versions, seven "God of War" games were released in total.

"God of War 3 Remastered" is currently available for $39.99 at the PlayStation Store.
