Marshall, a brand usually associated with rock and roll, announced that it will soon release a smartphone. The Android smartphone is named Marshall London and will hit the stores on Aug. 21.

Many tech analysts were surprised when Marshall announced that it will enter the smartphone market. However, most of them were disappointed with what Marshall has put into the table.

Marshall is marketing the London smartphone as "the first smartphone that puts music on the main stage." A statement that resounds cheap gimmicks and marketing hype, according to Mashable.

Marshall boasts that its device has the ability to record multi-track audio, has stereo speakers, can play FLAC files and it is equipped with the Bluetooth aptX. However, a quick search on the massive array of smartphone currently in the market will prove that none of those features are new or unique.

As for specs of Marshall London, it has a quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor from Qualcomm clocked at 1.2GHz. It has 2GB of internal memory and 16GB local storage which can be expanded via the microSD slot. It has a removable 2,500 mAh Li-ion battery.

It has a 4.7-inch display with a 720p HD resolution. The Marshall London has an 8-megapixel main camera with autofocus and flash. It also has a 2-megapixel front facing camera. The smartphone will come in with an Android 5.0.2 Lollipop operating system.

The Marshall London will be released first in the United Kingdom, Scandinavia and the Baltic States. Marshall added that it want to reach more territories as possible.

According to The Verge, the Marshall London will come with a hefty price tag of £399 in the UK which is roughly around $622 in the United States. In comparison, the HTC One M9 costs $649 and is significantly powerful that the Marshall London.

The Marshall London, based on its specs, is more comparable to a Moto G and Xiaomi Mi 4i that costs $180 and $200, respectively.
