"Ghostbusters" director Paul Feig has revealed that the characters to be played by Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon are Erin Gilbert, Jillian Holtzmann, Abby Yates and Patty Tolan.

"Ghostbusters" director Paul Feig took to Twitter on July 18, Saturday, to reveal the names of four of the characters in the upcoming sci-fi comedy, which will star Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon.

"Okay, here you go. Erin Gilbert, Jillian Holtzmann, Abby Yates and Patty Tolan. Now you know even more," Feig tweeted. Prior to this, the director has been releasing some "Ghostbusters" teasers.

While Feig did not identify which character would be played by McCarthy, Jones, Wiig and McKinnon, it is likely that Abby Yates will be played by McCarthy, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

On July 15, McCarthy and McKinnon were spotted wearing their stone-colored jumpsuits on the set of "Ghostbusters" in Boston, Mass. McCarthy seemed enjoying a relaxed stroll with her hands in her pockets while McKinnon was fiddling with her glasses, Daily Mail reported.

Aside from "Ghostbusters," McCarthy is also filming "B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations," in which she is lending her voice to the character named Watts along with Matt Bomer, Rashida Jones, Seth Rogen, Jennifer Coolidge and Octavia Spencer, among others.

Set to hit theaters on July 22, 2016, "Ghostbusters" will also star "Thor: Ragnarok" actor Chris Hemsworth, "Assassin's Creed" actor Michael Kenneth Williams, "Max Steel" actor Andy Garcia and "Veep" actors Neil Casey and Matt Walsh, among others.

Created in 1984, "Ghostbusters" is a sci-fi comedy franchise about a group of bizarre New York city parapsychologists investigating and capturing ghosts for a living. The first instalment was directed and produced by Ivan Reitman with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, Harold Ramis and Rick Moranis as the lead stars.
