AMD recently announced that the company will soon release a more affordable line of APU's that will be part of its A-Series family of computer processors. The new APU will be called A8-7670K.

Following the success of the Radeon R9 Fury and Fury X video cards, AMD will also release the A8-7670K in its hopes of revitalizing the company's sluggish sales when it comes to the processor market.

The new A8-7670K will be priced around $188 putting it within the pricing range of the Intel Core i3 line of processors. According to PC World, the new APU from AMD follows the A10-7870K released in May and targets budget PC builders that wants optimum performance for a much affordable price range.

According to Maximum PC, the A8-7670K will have 10 cores composed of four Steamroller CPU clocked at 3.6GHz with Turbo speed of 3.9GHz and six GCN Radeon cores clocked at 757MHz. Compared to the A10-7870K which 866MHz GPU clock speed, the new APU is a bit slower on the GPU side.

Despite the lower GPU clock speed, the new A8-7670K boasts new features like the Virtual Super Resolution and the AMD FreeSync which allows compatible displays monitors to have the same refresh rate as the graphics processors.

The A8-7670K will fit on a motherboard that has an FM2+ socket.

AMD senior director for client business unit Kevin Lensing said, "AMD takes great strides to deliver innovative technology that provides the performance and convenience customers need today and tomorrow."

Online retailer Newegg listed the A8-7670K with a price tag of $110 which is lower compared to the suggested retail price of AMD.
