Apple announced the OS X version 10.11 codenamed El Capitan for its Macintosh platform during the 2015 Worldwide Developers Conference. On Tuesday, Apple released a beta version of the operating software and after intense examination of its source code many tech experts' uncovered clues regarding the upcoming iMac.
According to 9to5Mac, hidden deep in El Capitan's source code is a line that suggests a future support for 4096 x 2304 resolution with Retina display. While Apple's 27-inch iMac currently supports 5K display, the smaller 21.5-inch Mac does not.
This new discovery suggests that Apple might finally support 4K resolution for the smaller iMac variants.
Aside from a reference to 4K display, a couple of lines of code also points to support for newer Intel graphics chipset named Iris Pro 6200. This is Intel's newest graphics chipset and uses a Broadwell-integrated processor.
Additionally, reference to four new AMD Radeon R9 graphics chipset were also found on the source. These are the M395X, M395, M390 and M380. This means that Apple is working on either new iMac models sporting these graphics card or a possible upgrade option.
Another interesting entry on the El Capitan's source code is the "AppleBluetoothRemote.kext" which suggests the Apple is developing a new Bluetooth remote control for the Mac, according to Engadget.
Delving deeper into the code shows that Apple is planning to integrate a dedicate Bluetooth wireless chip on its hardware. Additionally, the chip can connect to other devices through an infrared sensor and is also rumored to support Multi-Touch track pad with integrated inertial scrolling feature.
