"Lets Be Cops" star Natasha Legerro's new show "Another Period" is steadily gaining popularity on TV. The show, which debuted on June 23 on Comedy Central, is in the middle of the first season and it still has more to offer, said the 41-year-old comedian during a recent interview.
"We do have more coming up this season," the actress told AM NewYork. "Ben Stiller plays Charles Ponzi, who is the inventor of the Ponzi scheme. And Thomas Edison makes an appearance." The show airs on Tuesdays at 10:30 p.m.
The period sitcom is known as a fake reality show and it seems to be a mockery of "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" and "Downtown Abbey." The show is set in 1902 in Newport, featuring filthy rich Bellacourt family and its basement full of servants whose day-long duties include peacock teeth-brushing and precise morphine administration.
Legerro has developed the show with fellow comedian Riki Lindhome, in which the two are playing the role of Lillian and Beatrice Bellacourt, two society sisters, desperate to join the Newport 400, the 400 influential people in U.S.
The cast of the show is pretty impressive which includes Beth Dover, Christina Hendricks, Michael Ian Black, and Jason Ritter, Providence Journal reported. Legerro revelaed in her interview that all the people in the cast are "first-choice dream cast." She also claimed that several other actors, like Patton Oswalt and Ken Jeong, have approached her asking for a role.
The actress also revealed how she had researched extensively for the show. Apart from reading several books on the subject, she also took a tour of Newport to get a first hand experience of the place and its glorious history. In fact, she admited that Paget Brewtser's character is based on a woman named Dodo who used to change mansions because she thought the humidity was affecting her hairstyle.
