Microsoft Surface Phone In The Making? New Windows Phone Lineup To Kill Popular Flagships Like iPhone 6S, Galaxy Note 5

Microsoft is reportedly working on a Surface Phone handset, a new line of Windows Phone to pit against popular flagships like the iPhone 6S and Galaxy Note 5.

The Redmond giant is now rumored to be building two high-end flagship smartphones. One of them will come with polycarbonate body whereas the other will be housing an aluminum body, Windows United reported.

The device with the metal body is being referred to as the Surface Phone. It will be categorized as a new lineup of smartphones running on Windows 10 Mobile. It will be featuring Intel's SoFIA chipset. It is expected to release few months after the release of its polycarbonate version.

The polycarbonate handset will be powered by Snapdragon 810 chipset. It will come with support for Continuum through a docking station that will three connectivity option such as USB, HDMI and USB Type-C.

The device will also be featuring the iris scanner and on-screen navigation buttons. It will be priced around 600 Euro. Both the handsets are expected to release in early 2016. If it happens so, it will come to out to pit against smartphones like the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, Google Nexus 2015, Galaxy Note 5 and 2016's Galaxy S7.

As far as this year is concerned, Microsoft is heavily rumored to release the Lumia 950 and the Lumia 950 XL flagships with Windows 10 Mobile onboard. Even though the Redmond giant has not confirmed the purported devices, the entire specifications of both the handsets have been revealed. The Lumia 950 and 950 XL are expected to get unleashed at the upcoming IFA 2015 event on Sept. 4, International Business Times reported.
