WWE SummerSlam 2015 may air on ESPN. Reports have it that the sports network is looking at the possibility of airing the wrestling program after receiving multiple requests from fans.

The wrestling pay-per-view event, which is scheduled for August, is one of the most awaited shows of the WWE. Fans look forward to seeing which superstars will be facing each other in the ring. For those near the venue, SummerSlam tickets are prized possessions. For those faraway, live TV airing will do.

Much like any big sporting events, WWE fans are hoping that ESPN will cover SummerSlam 2015, the way they would the NBA games or NFL matches.

According to Wrestling Inc, former WWE commentator and now ESPN anchor, Jonathan Coachman, has been pushing fans to contact the network giant and urge them to cover WWE SummerSlam 2015 "like it's a big sporting event."

The site noted that while there are some who think covering WWE is a good idea for the network, higher ups believe it wont help ESPN.

"There said to be people dead-set against the idea, feeling that ESPN should not cover pro wrestling because it's not a sport," Wrestling Inc wrote.

Should the network decide to cover the wrestling PPV event, this wouldn't be the first time WWE will be featured on ESPN, WrestleZone noted.  It has recently featured a behind the scenes look at the world of wrestling. The one-hour documentary, titled "WWE: Behind the Curtain", was released in May.

WWE SummerSlam 2015 is scheduled on August 23 at Barclays Center, New York.
