A photo an alleged iPhone 6S front panel was recently leaked and offers the first ever peek of Apple's upcoming device.

The photos were sent by an informant to the French website Nowhereelse.fr and was posted on July 23. A Google translation of the French news suggests that iPhone parts are currently in production and some of the early batches are ready to be sent to iPhone 6S assembly lines. The report added that the photographed front panels will be used for the Gold and Silver model of the iPhone 6S.

Based on the leaked photo, the iPhone 6S looks very much identical to its predecessor although the source was not able to tell whether the glass was made of sapphire or alkali-aluminosilicate glass just like the one used by Gorilla Glass. The photo also shows no sign of any Force Touch capabilities, according to Mac Rumors.

The informant who leaked the photo claims that the new casing is much smoother compared to the current iPhone 6 case which prompted speculations that Apple might have used a different aluminum for the upcoming device. More rumors claim that Apple is employing the pressure-sensitive display technology just like the one integrated into the Apple Watch.

Despite the new leaked photographs, Apple has been very quiet about the specs of the upcoming iPhone 6S. Several reports and speculations claim that it might use a faster processor like the A9 SoC with 2GB of internal memory. There are also rumors pointing to a possible 12-megapixel camera upgrade.

Despite rumors and speculations, the newly leaked iPhone 6S photograph could only mean that the device is in full-on mass production. According to Apple Insider, assembly of the device will start early in July.
