"Nashville" star Aubrey Peeples, who plays the role of Layla Grant, was recently promoted as series regular in the upcoming fourth season of the hit ABC series.

According to TV Line, Peeples' promotion did not come as a surprise to the actress or to her fans because she has been a recurring guest star on the show since season 2. Additionally, her character's storylines have instantly become some of the most controversial stories on the show to date.

In the previous seasons, Layla was introduced as a new singer who eventually fell in love and married Will. The couple later on starred in a reality TV show that destroyed their "fake" marriage. Later on, Layla had a relationship with Jeff and in season 3, she officially signed under Rayna James' label called Highway 65.

Meanwhile, other than her appearances on "Nashville," Peeples will also star in the upcoming film entitled, "Jem and the Holograms" while fans of Ted (Eric Close) will see the character less in season 4 because in season 3, Ted was busted by the authorities due to embezzlement, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In "Nashville" season 3 finale episode, fans held their breaths as they saw one of character's hearts flat line. It is unclear whether or not it was Deacon of his sister Beverly that was killed off. Showrunner Dee Johnson later on encouraged fans to not worry too much and hinted that whoever died may still be revived in season 4.

"Nashville" season 4 will premiere on ABC this coming September.
