Best Buy will put the Apple Watch on sale starting on August 7, making it the first United States retail chain to market the smartwatch, besides Apple stores.  It will sell the mobile device at 300 brick-and-mortar  stores by the winter holiday season, and also on the electronics corporation's Internet store BestBuy.com.

Best Buy is the U.S.'s biggest consumer electronics chain. The retailer will first roll out the Watch at 100 locations and its online store, and will then add 200 more stores before Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year's Day.

Shoppers will get to test and purchase 16 Apple Watch models. That includes Sport and Edition models, and 38 mm and 42 mm sizes; and wearable accessories such as screen shields, watch bands, and chargers, according to PC World..

Jason Bonfig is a senior officer at the retailer. He shared in a blog post that the company is "excited" about selling the Apple smartwatch to its customers.

The Steve Jobs co-founded company shipped out the Apple Watch in nine countries including the U.S. on April 24. It then launched the wearable gadget in seven more nations on June 26.

The company reported $49.6 billion in revenue and $10.7 billion in profits last week, with the bulk earned from sales of iPhones and iPads. Its smartwatch sales were not detailed.

However, Apple's Chief Financial Officer (CFO) told Reuters this month that its smartwatch's sales had exceeded the company's projections. Nine weeks after its April launch, the device has sold better than iPhones and iPads did for the same time period after their rollout, according to Reuters.

Apple shipped out 4 million watches in Q2. This allowed it to grab three-fourths of the global smartwatch market.
