Google+ will get a big makeover based on user feedback, after the search engine giant admittedly did not make the best decisions in the past including ones related to Gmail, Google Photos, and Google Collections. The first of several major changes launched will be to end its cross-platform posts of YouTube comments.

Google made a blog post on July 27, Monday. In it the California-based company stated that it would put everything in the proper place, confessing that some previous decisions could have been wiser.

A company vice president Bradley Horowitz stated that the goal of Google+ was to connect humans as they do in the real world, and some things were done correctly. However, it must "rethink" some decisions.

For instance, Google admitted that it was not practical for all Google+ profiles to function as their identity across all of the company's platforms. In fact, recently an anti-cross-platform petition with 120,000 users' signatures was submitted.

YouTube stated on its official blog that the link between Google+ and YouTube will end. Google+ will stop broadcasting YouTube comments.

Gmail account registration already no longer includes a mandatory Google+ sign-up.  New users now have a choice.

Google also noted that it added Google+ Collections to let users share and collect posts that are organized by topic. Meanwhile, it has removed other features that are "unessential" in social networking.

Other changes are in the works. The company is also adding location sharing in apps such as Hangouts. It has already moved certain components of Google+ Photos to the Google Photos app, according to ZDNet.

Horowitz stated that while the Google+ modifications will not happen right away, they will improve all of its users' experiences. It will become more "engaging."

When Google launched Google+ four years ago, the main objective was that within time it would become a major Facebook rival, according to Zee News. That experiment seems to be over.
