Nintendo's Massive 'Splatoon' Update Brings New Weapons, Modes

Nintendo plans to upgrade massively "Splatoon" in August, with new types of weapons, a level cap increase, more matchmaking modes, and over three dozens of new pieces of gear.

The massive update for the game will happen on Aug. 5, and it will be free for the Wii U. Nintendo stated that the updates are planned well, along with additional updates that will be launched in summer and fall.

Players will be able to get new Private Battle and Squad Battle matchmaking options. Private Battle matchmaking option will allow other people to play in a more customizable private match, letting eight players to join. Squad Battle matchmaking option lets the players and friends to play together in Ranked Battle.

In addition, the level caps for Ranked Battle and Regular Battle modes were given an increase, allowing the players to get into level 50 compared to level 20. It will let the players to reach the maximum rank of S and S+, which is higher than the present A and A+ ranks.

The additional new pair of weapons are Slosher and Splating; Slosher is good for shooting ink straight ahead to great distances and Splating is Gatling-like style of weapon designed for charging blasts of ink, Slash Gear explained.

For the new gears, there are 40 pieces including a gear-like sushi chef costume and a leather jacket. Players can expect more weapons, maps, and the anticipated Rainmaker Ranked Battle mode will be present as well in the future update and players can get it for free, according to Polygon.
