Innovations in China's science and technology field can help take the country to greater heights, according to Premier Li.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang recently called on talented professionals to work hard and achieve more breakthroughs in the field of science and technology at a national symposium held on Monday, July 26. In accordance with this effort, Li also encouraged the Chinese government to give more leeway in bureaucratic processes to help such goals.

"Obstacles that hold back startups and innovation should be removed, and sci-tech administration should be improved to create better conditions for personnel to devote themselves to research," Premier Li said.

Li also highlighted the country's ongoing "Internet Plus" campaign, which aims to create a better digital arena in the country. To help achieve the goal, Li encouraged individuals and enterprises to work together.

According to Li, a fair and open environment is important to cultivate rich ground for sci-tech businesses to thrive in the country.

"We should respect talented people, and guarantee the rights and interests of business startups and innovators," he said.

The Chinese Premier also went on to stress that innovation in science and technology is the key toward China's development.

To make China more competent in the global scientific and technological world, scientific and technological development must be promoted heavily in the country, Li said. Such upgrades can also help the country deal with environmental and resource constraints, which block the way toward further development.

Li encouraged the general populace to consider science and technology as a primary productive force, which can significantly help China maintain its momentum for medium-high speed economic growth, if closer integration between the economy and the sci-tech industry is achieved.
