Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny had been on loan to Serie club AS Roma from Premier League team Arsenal FC since he began his senior career in 2009. Reportedly, the 25-year-old goalie would like to make the transfer permanent next summer, as reported by the Mirror.

With the recent £10 million transfer of Petr Čech from Chelsea, the Gunners have found their main net guardian in the person of the 33-year-old Czech Republic international and are ready to let go of the younger Szczesny.

In fact, manager Arsène Wenger was already not in good terms with Szczesny ever since the Warsaw native was allegedly discovered smoking inside the team's locker room following a New Year's Day loss to The Saints at Saint Mary's Stadium last year.

Colombia international David Ospina, who was acquired by Arsenal last year, is Čech's backup of choice, which would leave Szczesny as the third-string goalkeeper in the Emirates roster. Naturally, the 6-foot-5 goaltender is not happy with that and thus he demanded to be moved to Stadio Olimpico indefinitely.

Both sides would have to negotiate and agree to a deal first and so far there are still no reports of talks happening between the two teams.

Meanwhile, Daily Mail Online reported that Szczesny happily announced in social media about his season-long loan to i Giallorossi.

Szczesny was greeted by a large number of fans and well-wishers upon his arrival in Rome on Monday. Even with the permanent transfer not yet official, he showed his loyalty to Roma by sporting a scarf with the name and logo of the club and showing it to the cameras.
