Galaxy Note 5 likely for a Sept launch

South Korean tech company Samsung sent out invites for its annual Unpacked event scheduled on Aug. 13. Rumors claim that the company is planning to unveil the Galaxy Note 5 tablet on the event ahead of speculated September schedule at IFA Berlin.

Samsung did not provide any details about its upcoming event. However, many analysts say that the company is planning an early release of its flagship tablet in order to avoid direct competition from another highly anticipated device from Apple which is either the iPhone 6S or iPhone 7.

The company usually make all its major announcements at the IFA stage. This year might be an exception though. Aside from the Galaxy Note 5, Samsung is also rumored to launch the Galaxy S6 Edge+ which is an updated and upgraded variant of the Galaxy S6 Edge.

The Galaxy Note 5 is rumored to run on Samsung's own chipset named Exynos 7422 which has an eight-core 64-bit processor and combines LTE capability, storage, memory and graphics in one small package. A benchmark screenshot picked up by GSM Arena shows the tablet to sport 4GB of internal memory.

Additionally, the device will have a 5.7-inch AMOLED screen with Quad HD resolution at 1440 x 2560 pixels. Tech analysts speculate that the device might come with a 4K resolution.

The tablet will run on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system with a customized TouchWiz user interface from Samsung.

The device is expected to sport a 16-megapixel rear facing main camera with dual LED flash and image stabilization technology. According to Sam Mobile, the tablet will have a 5-megapixel front facing secondary camera.

As for its storage options, the device with have 32GB of storage space. Samsung has long abandoned expandable microSD support since the release of Galaxy S6. However, no clear indication shows that the Galaxy Note 5 will lack microSD support.

The Samsung Note 5 is expected to be unveiled at the upcoming Unpacked event scheduled on Aug. 13. The device will hit the market on Aug. 21.
