The latest “Modern Family” season 7 spoilers revealed that there will be major casting changes in the premiere episode. Joe Pritchett (Pierce Wallace) will be replaced by a slightly older child actor.
According to TV Line, the actor who is playing Jay Pritchett (Ed O'Neill) and Gloria's (Sofia Vergara) son will be replaced by a four-year-old star come season 7. The showrunners, however, have yet to release an official statement on what brought the changes on.
This is not the first time that "Modern Family" executives have decided to recast one of its child actors. Back in 2011, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons took over the role of Lily from twins Ella and Jaden Hiller. This proved to be a good decision on their end as Lily became one of the fan favorites on the show.
The news was revealed soon after it was announced that the ABC series received several nominations for the 2015 Emmy Awards. For the sixth consecutive year, "Modern Family" was nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series. Julie Bowen (Claire Dunphy) and Ty Burrell (Phil Dunphy) were also nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actors in a Comedy Series. Elizabeth Banks also received a nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her portrayal of Sal.
Meanwhile, other "Modern Family" season 7 spoilers hinted that Alex Dunphy (Ariel Winter) may be having problems fitting in at Caltech. As she gets surrounded by students who is just as smart, she will reportedly feel less special and rely on her family for support. According to Venture Capital Post, Alex may also get a possible love interest in the coming episodes.
