"Star Trek" actor Chris Pine has been confirmed to play the role of Steve Trevor in Patty Jenkins' "Wonder Woman."
According to The Wrap, Pine has closed a multi-picture deal with Warner Bros. to play Wonder Woman's love interest, not only in Jenkins' "Wonder Woman," but also in other sequels or future DC films that may necessitate his character.
In May, Pine was initially rumored to be playing the role of Trevor, which was followed by another report in July that he was offered two different roles in two different films in the DC Cinematic Universe Aside from Trevor, the actor was also reported to have been offered a role of Hal Jordan/ Green Lantern, along with "Fast and Furious" actor Tyrese Gibson.
In his interview with Collider, Gibson teased about his possible role as Green Lantern, saying that he had a number of meetings with Warner Bros. Believing that there had to be more black superheroes, the actor also mentioned that he would be the best Green Lantern. While the actor wanted to make a revelation, he just said that fans should keep an eye on the seventh Justice League member.
It has been also reported that Pine will not be only playing the role of Princess Diana of Themyscira's romance, as per The Wrap. This implies a possibility that fans will be seeing a Trevor, who will exemplify traits that are not parallel to the comic book.
"Fast and Furious" actress Gal Gadot is playing the role of Princess Diana of Themyscira. Aside from Pine playing the role of the superhero's love interest, additional cast members and exact details on how Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor will cross paths in Jenkins' upcoming film have yet to be revealed.
Jenkins' "Wonder Woman" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on June 23, 2017.
