Zayn Malik, who was in the headlines a couple of months back for abruptly leaving One Direction after a span of five years, announced on July 29, Wednesday, that he has signed to RCA records to make some "real music" as a solo artist.
"I guess I never explained why I left, it was for this moment to be given the opportunity to show you who i really am! #realmusic #RCA," tweeted the singer alongside a pic of himself in which he is seen happily signing on a sheet of paper.
By signing on the dotted lines of RCA records contract paper, Malik has joined the league of Alicia Keys, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Kesha and Miley Cyrus, who also have been associated with the brand.
Under the contract, Malik will be working with the R&B producer Malay, who is popular of working with Frank Ocean and John Legend. The British singer will also be guided by Sarah Stennett, the same person who is also taking care of the career of the Aussie rapper, Iggy Azalea, The Guardian reported.
The 22-year-old created quite a stir in the music industry when he announced in March that he is leaving One Direction to stay away from the limelight and to lead a normal life. However, soon after his exit, the singer was reported to be working with the British music producer Naughty Boy, but their collaboration came to an ugly end when the former accused the latter of leaking their collaboration.
Malik's recent move has put the rumors to rest that he is joining back the all-boy band. The hashtag "#ZaynIsComingBackOnJuly26" was seen trending on Twitter over the weekend, Mirror reported.
