Nature's Variety, a company that makes popular dog food has issued a voluntary recall on one of its goods known as the Instinct Raw Chicken for Dogs product line due to possible contamination from Salmonella, the company announced through the United States Food and Drugs Administration.

Labeled with a 4/27/16 "best buy" date, pet owners who bought the said product are highly advised by the FDA to discontinue the feeding of their products to their pets after the FDA discovered that a routine surveillance sample of seven pound Instinct Raw Chicken Bites for dogs appeared positive for Salmonella contamination.

Salmonella is a risk for animals when products contaminated are consumed. It can also present danger to humans who handled contaminated products without precaution.

Different products under the Raw Chicken Formula Frozen Diets are affected from the contamination. The products were packaged as "UPC# 769949611431 - Instinct Raw Chicken Formula Bites for Dogs 4 lb.; Best By 04/27/16"; "UPC# 769949611448 - Instinct Raw Chicken Formula Bites for Dogs 7 lb.; Best By 04/27/16"; and "UPC# 769949611486 - Instinct Raw Chicken Formula Patties for Dogs 6 lb.; Best By 04/27/16"

Thought no illness have been reported to date, consumers who believe to have already fed a contaminated product are still advised to look for signs and symptoms of infection such as vomiting, diarrhea and fever; and seek for a veterinarian for their pet's health.

Buyers also have the privilege for a full refund in case the products as stated above were bought, which they can get by bringing a proof of purchase to the retailer whom they bought the contaminated item, NBC New York reported.

Additional questions for consumers are entertained through a phone call to their Consumer Relations team with the number 888-519-7387 from 8AM to 7PM Central time or through email to Nature's Variety via cservice@naturesvariety.com.
