Sony has always been adamant about bringing more options and catering to more feedback from the PlayStation community. The latest in this endeavor introduces the new "Vote to Play" promo exclusively to PlayStation Plus subscribers.
The Vote to Play promo will now allow PS Plus members to have a say in what will be one of the games in an upcoming month's PS Plus lineup of free games, the company announced via the PlayStation Blog.
It will be a majority wins situation, wherein the game that gets the most number of votes will be included in the Instant Game Collection. Currently, the voting has been announced for the PS4 free game of the month.
Interestingly, the kickoff month will have an extra bonus. According to Sony, the first promotion will see runner-up nominations at a discounted price. No word on has been given on how the roster of games to vote from will be established or what the limitations of the discounted runner-ups system will work. Sony did promise that it will give all the necessary details once the polls are ready for players.
The company also announced some good news by way of profits earned during the April to June quarter of 2015. Two things have contributed to the tripled profits, namely the sold units for the PS4 and camera sensors, Ars Technica reported.
In the particular quarter alone, Sony has recorded the movement of three million PS4 units, pushing its global sales to over 25.3 million units sold. All in all, the recorded net profit is at ¥82.4 billion yen ($664 million). Apart from the PS4, Sony has also recorded gains and growth in its other devices, particularly the camera sensors used by other brands for its smart devices. This also helped boost overall sales.
However, there are also a few minor hiccups, such as Sony's mobile and entertainment divisions. This has led to an overall lack of any significant growth or gain year-on-year for the company.
