"Magic Mike" actor Channing Tatum is set to star in the 20th Century Fox's "X-Men" spin-off, "Gambit." Putting the rumors to the rest that he is contemplating to exit from the project following his dispute with Fox, the actor has recently signed on the dotted lines to close the deal.

It was rumored earlier that the 35-year-old actor is not agreeing to the terms laid out by Fox, after which the fans of the Marvel comic superhero feared that the project will eventually fall apart. It now appears that the rumors were triggered due to a sensitive spot in negotiation between the actor's teams and the studio, which required several back-and-forth to be settled upon, reported The Hollywood Reporter.

One of the matters of contention was apparently the role of Gambit in future "X-Men" movies. Since it is reported that Fox is ready to bring Gambit as an anchor character in the X-Men universe, similar to Hugh Jackman's "Wolverine," it is most likely that the recently closed deal covers more than one film and fans will find Gambit in most of the upcoming "Wolverine" movies.

Tatum is deeply involved in the superhero spin-off and has reportedly already invested a huge amount in its production, IGN reported. The movie will be directed by Rupert Wyatt, who is best known for his hit flick, "Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes" and is written by Josh Zetumer Josh Zetumer of 2014's "RoboCop" fame.

The movie is expected to hit the theatres on Oct. 7, 2016 although the complete cast of the adventure fantasy is still not known. The production of the movie is expected to kick start soon.
