Apple’s Next-Gen 21.5-inch iMac To Pack 4K Retina Display

Apple OS X El Capitan is an operating system that gives simpler and smarter ways of interacting with a Mac.

It seems like Apple's long rumored 21.5-inch iMac will sport a Retina display with a 4096×2304 resolution, suggesting it to be a 4K iMac, expected to be revealed in the next few months.

The sixth OS X El Capitan beta, released recently, is said to have three configuration files, two of which point at the new 5K 27-inch iMacs and the last one hint at a possible 4K iMac, as reported by a French Website Consomac [Google Translate].

This is not the first instance a code has been referenced to the upcoming iMac, as a similar occurrence has happened even in the second beta of the operating system. However, Apple is yet to comment on these reports.

The Apple's 21.5-inch variant of iMac has not seen any significant changes in the last two years, as the company's is reportedly waiting for Broadwell and Skylake processors. According to the codes in the sixth beta, Cupertino is having at least 1 iMac in the pipeline, to be launched alongside iPad Pro, iPad Mini 4 and Apple Watch.

This falls in line with the report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, early this month that suggested the company working on new iMacs to be launched this quarter. However, the report did not indicate if there was a 4K-resolution 21.5-inch iMac under development, Apple Insider reported.

As for specifications, rumor has it that the new iMac will pack the Intel’s new Skylake chipset, though there is no official word about it. There seems to be little to no changes in terms of design as the icon seen in the leaked images is of the same design of the previous model.

The new 21.5-inch iMac is expected to have a price tag of at least $1,299, as the current generation 21.5-inch iMac costs around $1,099. Nevertheless, Apple is yet to even official confirm the new desktop.
