The Beijing Music Festival is one of the highly anticipated events in the Chinese capital.

The line-up and schedule of the 18th edition of Beijing Music Festival were finally detailed, giving momentum to the annually held event, which aimed to highlight the Chinese capital's music agenda.

With the theme "Revel in Romance," the music fest is expected to explore the Romanticism concept in Western classical music.

The highly anticipated event, which will be held from Oct. 8-24, will feature the premiere of a German-based reproduced opera. The performance, adapted from composer Richard Wagner, will include the musician's famous piece, "Nuremberg in the name of a singer."

The crowd of the 18th Beijing Music Festival will also enjoy the performance of Gerard Oppitz, a German classical pianist, along with the seasoned WDR symphony orchestra.

After a successful performance at last year's festival, French-Chinese pianist Zhu Xiao Mei will be returning to the stage with Bach's "The Goldberg Variations."

The upcoming music festival will showcase a total of 18 operatic performances, symphonies and piano recitals.

The festival takes its roots back in 1998 when its staging was approved by China's Ministry of Culture and by the Beijing Municipal Government.

The Beijing Music Festival Association, the fest's organizers, is composed of critically acclaimed artists and top-notch managers.

Under the guidance of the municipal government, the fest brings about world-class performances, attracting artists and spectators from around the world.

According to the event's official website, the music festival also puts importance in music education and public welfare. Hence, apart from the performances, free children's and students' concerts are also being staged. It also offers master classes for students, teachers and music enthusiasts alike.
