"Dance Moms" Abby Lee Miller refused to give Nia Frazier a solo performance at the Nationals even after beating Kalani Hilliker at the weekly competition. In the latest season 5 episode, the two dancers were pitted against each other for a shot to shine in one of the biggest dancing competitions.
Since the beginning of the episode, Miller has always been confident that Hilliker will win against Frazier. The other moms also agreed that Hilliker has an edge over Frazier, even if the latter was given an exciting new routine to perform, titled "Bye Felicia."
Frazier's mom Holly, however, claimed that the ALDC coach should not belittle her daughter's capabilities. She said that Frazier may just end up surprising them all.
When the moms saw that the judges who will be judging the performance were a couple of teenagers, they immediately thought that Frazier had a shot at winning. They speculated that her fresh routine would definitely impress the judges. Miller, however, still insisted that Hilliker's contemporary performance would blow them away.
In the end, Frazier won while Hilliker placed third at the weekly competition. Despite the ALDC coach's promise that the winner will get a solo at the Nationals, she said that she will still go with Hilliker. She said that she deserved the solo because she had a "huge breakthrough."
Frazier's mom was furious at the coach for breaking her word. She argued that Miller should give her daughter a chance, saying that she was able to prove what she can do. Miller, however, would not listen. She claimed that she needed a "sure thing" to win the Nationals and that "sure thing" was Hilliker.
