George R.R. Martin Confirms 'The Winds Of Winter' Plot Differs From 'Game Of Thrones' Season 6

‘The Winds of Winter’: 'Game of Thrones' Author George R.R. Martin has declared that he will finish 'The Winds of Winter' before the premiere of 'Game of Thrones' Season 7

"Game of Thrones" fans are eagerly awaiting the release date of "The Winds of Winter," the sixth installment to the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. Although George R.R. Martin has yet to reveal when it will the bookshelves, new reports claim that the novel will be out before 2015 ends.

In an interview with New York Jets player D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Martin shared that he felt "overwhelmed" with how popular the series has become. He shared that with HBO's TV adaptation, the pressure to deliver quality material only intensified. The author, however, encouraged fans to treat the book and television series as two separate entities.

Martin said that fans have to realize that although there may be similarities between the two mediums, they should not feel the need to point out each and every differences between the book and its adaptation. He explained that the producers had to tweak the novel a bit because of the limitations of television.

"The Winds of Winter" author added that fans should not feel disappointed if some of the scenes in the book will not be featured on "Game of Thrones." He explained that each novel were over 1,500 long in manuscript, adding that the series would be still be in its first season if they decided to closely follow the novel.

Martin also shared that he may not be writing any more episodes in the future for he wanted to concentrate on finishing the series. He pointed out that there are a lot of creative minds who could write the series but only he can finish the novel.

Earlier this week, Martin wrote on his blog  that he will be traveling to New York and New Jersey. Many fans speculate that this could only mean that he is done writing "The Winds of Winter," given that he said on previous interviews that he is cancelling engagements and guest appearances until he finished the sixth book. The author and his representatives, however, refused to reveal further details on the novel's release date.
