Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2

New plants and zombies are not the only things coming to the sequel of EA and PopCap's "Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare" from last year as the second installment will feature new themes, moves and surprises, which were revealed over at Gamescom 2015.

Fans of the "Mass Effect" game series will get to experience the Z7 mech seen in the original series, only with a grassy spin this time around. As far as characters are concerned there will be six new classes coming in, with 14 customizable character types accessible to players, PC Advisor reported.

There are a couple of new improvements in the overall gameplay as well. One of these is the removal of the required online access to PS Plus or Xbox Live in order to pay even the single-player mode. This allows for a full offline version as a solo player or via split-screen.

Players will also get the choice to either take the battle to the zombies, or be a defender of the undead. The former can be done in the 24-player Herbal Assault mode, while the latter is featured in Graveyard Ops which lets you play in a four-player zombie co-op to defend Zomburbia.

Developer PopCap even revealed a new online venue, dubbed as the Backyard Battleground, IGN reported. This will be the place where players can gather and choose their multiplayer modes and missions. In addition, Crazy Dave will provide a number of missions to be completed, making Backyard Battleground the best place to see a number of characters in the game.

The only downside is that Xbox 360 and PS3 players will need to get themselves a PC alternative or upgrade to the current-gen versions of their existing consoles. EA has confirmed that "Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2" will only be available on the Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

So far, EA has not announced a release date for "Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2." Players are encouraged to preorder the game, however, as doing so will give them access to the "Grass Effect" Z7 mech for zombies.
