Game developer Treyarch has revealed some new features coming with "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" eSports tools at GamesCom 2015 that will deliver a more competitive gaming overall.
A new system, Ban and Protect, has been introduced in the multiplayer version of the game. This feature involves one's options and choices in weapons for both private and competitive matches. With the new system, players can pick which weapon they would like to ban and protect before each match starts, GameSpot reported.
This new system highly banks on strategy as it can affect the gameplay of both player and his opponents. A ban will be useful for players who know the weapons that an opponent tends to rely on, as that weapon, perk or other accessories will be banned from the game.
It will also allow players to protect an item. Protected items will still be accessible to the player who executes the action, but if it has been banned, it will remain banned for everyone else.
Treyarch also unveiled a new feature in the online component of "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3." Dubbed as "Arena," this feature will prevent the much-exploited capability known as reverse-boosting, IGN reported. With the introduction of Arena, players now cannot voluntarily drop their skill levels by forfeiting matches.
When reverse-boosting happens, players usually drop from their skill tier by one level. As such, players can now compete with others in a mismatched ranking. For "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3," this means that players will now only be ranked by the number of times they win a match.
The developer revealed that there will be 20 ranks in addition to the Master's Division, which serves as the top rank structure in the game. There are two ways to get demoted, mainly in losing twice in a row or quitting the game.
"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" is slated for the PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. The release date has been set for Nov. 6.
