The latest edition of the Halo game franchise, "Halo 5: Guardians" will have twice the length of the story campaign as "Halo 4."
This was confirmed by development director, Frank O'Connor at the last month's Comic-Con. Games mxdwn has his statements:
"It's definitely, definitely bigger. And for some of the players in this audience, the [Halo] games do seem to be getting shorter, but that's because you're getting much, much, much better at the game as well. And if you're like me, you're going to grab a Warthog and drive it places it's not supposed to go."
It was also confirmed that there are now more places to move around in. Screen Rant notes that there are now three worlds to move around in: Human, Covenant and Forerunner.
The average campaign for "Halo 4" was pegged at 7-8 hours depending on the difficulty level and whether you are playing cooperatively. "Halo 5: Guardians" is designed to definitely extend this number.
In fact, the game was even scaled down, as the length was initially much longer. This is possible because Halo has a rich universe to explore and now they also have three worlds.
Another innovation in "Halo 5" is the shift from 30 frames per second to 60 frames per second. O'Connor explains that this was meant to improve the user experience.
"Some people are fine with 30fps; we're not discounting that, but our simulation, the way your controller works, the way that you move through the levels; the way that four players move through those levels; they're all actually tied into a 60fps simulation. So the reality is, if it was visuals, what we'd do is we'd just overload everything at 30fps; higher fidelity textures and lighting and so on."
He concludes: "The reality is 60fps is gameplay."
The highly anticipated game will be released on X-Box One on October 27, 2015.
