"Castle" season 8 will feature a new character named Hayley Shipton. Despite rumors that Hayley will get in between Kate Beckett and Rick Castle's relationship, it was revealed by the show creators that this would not be the case.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, show creator Terence Paul Winter said that Beckett and Hayley will have different personalities so they could bring fun encounters to the show. This does not mean though that the pretty newbie will be interested in Castle.
Showrunner Alexi Hawley added that Hayley's inclusion into the series was never meant to be a competition for Beckett. This being said, Hayley is expected to bring a different flavor to the show.
Meanwhile, Castle and Hayley will work closely with one another. However, the latter's approach at solving crimes will not always be acceptable or legal. According to Hawley, the partnership of the two will be very fun to watch.
In other news, Hawley and Winter also spoke about the upcoming season during an interview with TV Guide. According to the show creators, Beckett's decision to become the new captain of the 12th Precinct will impact season 8 greatly.
As the new captain, Beckett might face some problems with her relationship with Castle. However, this does not mean though that the two would breakup. Season 8 will also be filled with a lot of romantic encounters between the two.
"Castle" season 8 stars Stana Katic, Nathan Fillion, Toks Olagundoye and more. The series will premiere on ABC on Sept. 21 at 10 p.m. ET.
