"Castle" season 8 will feature a new character named Hayley and the role was recently given to "The Neighbors" star Toks Olagundoye.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Olagundoye will play the role of the witty and free-spirited Scotland Yard police officer who will be also be partnering with Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion). With this, fans are speculating that Hayley and Rick's relationship will not be strictly professional.
Hayley will also be introduced during the first half of season 8 which will run on ABC in two parts. The first half of the season will begin in September and the second half of the season will commence sometime in January 2016, TV Line reported.
Meanwhile, Olagundoye's addition to the cast of "Castle" only shows that, indeed, the creators of the hit ABC series are shaking things up for the show. In the past, the show creators said that they will be changing the storyline of "Castle" so Rick and Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) will not always work together.
With this, there were also reports that Kate will run for the spot in the senate so she will be busy with other things. Likely, Rick will be busy solving mysteries with Hayley so the two will definitely become closer with one another.
In other news, some new characters will also be introduced in the upcoming eighth season of "Castle." The bold changes will come after the series was almost cancelled ahead of season seven's finale episode.
"Castle" season 8 will premiere on ABC on Monday, September 21, at 10 p.m. ET.
