‘Captain Marvel’: Ronda Rousey Chooses To Become Marvel’s First Female Lead Superhero

UFC fighter Ronda Rousey wants to play Miss Marvel's character.

UFC fighter and actress Ronda Rousey expressed her interest to play the role of Captain Marvel.

In her interview with Reddit AMA, Rousey was asked to name a superhero she would like to play in a film. She said that with a number of good superheroes have already been engaged, she would like to portray Miss Marvel.

A mixed martial artist, Rousey would be suitable to play the role of Captain Marvel, as per Cinema Blend. The athlete-actress managed to grab bronze medal in Judo at the 2008 Summer Olympics, along with the ESPY 2015 Best Fighter Award. She is also is recognized as the UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion at present.

As an actress, Rousey is known for her roles in Cesar Lazcano's drama film "American Judoka," Patrick Hughes action film "The Expendables 3," James Wan's action-car racing film "Fast and Furious 7," and Doug Ellin's comedy film "Entourage." She will be next seen in Peter Berg's action film "Mile 22" in 2016.

Along with Rousey, other actresses who have been attached to play the role of Captain Marvel include Bryce Dallas Howard, Emily Blunt, Jessica Chastain, and Katheryn Winnick. Rousey's combat skills give her an advantage to rise as the titular superhero in Marvel's first female led film.

At this point, the cast members, the director, and the exact plot details have yet to be revealed. "Inside Out" writer Meg LeFuave and "Guardians of the Galaxy" writer Nicole Perlman are on board to pen the screenplay.

Marvel's "Captain Marvel" is slated to premiere in theaters on Nov. 2, 2018.
