Adam Driver will play the character of Kylo Ren in J.J. Abrams' “Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens.”

Director J.J. Abrams has recently talked about Kylo Ren, a character in his upcoming "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens."

In his interview with Entertainment Weekly, Abrams said that the force presents two sides, each having a hero. This suggests that Luke Skywalker rises from the light side while Kylo Ren ascends from the dark side of the force.

Abrams also explained that both Skywalker and Ren are from simple origins. Skywalker was raised up on a planet called Tatooine and became a Jedi Knight to fight the Empire. Meanwhile, Ren's background is quite cloudy at this point, since the only certain is that his distinctiveness is concealed by his mask.

According to IGN, it is most likely that Ren's identity will be part of the core plot of Abrams' film, due to the anonymity of the person behind the mask. Some rumors say that Ren is a resurgence of the Sith or Dark Jedi while some speculate that the Sith Warrior is an offspring of Skywalker and Leia Organa.

Ren traced the path to the dark side of the force and came to be part of the Knights of Ren, the group where he took "Ren" as his surname. With his black hood, dark mask, and self-crafted red lightsaber, Ren is one of the notable threats in Abrams' upcoming film.

"Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" is set 30 years following the events in the "Star Wars VI - Return of Jedi" Showcases a poise of both old and new heroes and antagonists, the film stars Simon Pegg, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Daisy Ridley, Gwendoline Christie, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford, among others.

Abrams is set to helm the film while George Lucas and Lawrence Kasdan are on board to pen the screenplay of the highly anticipated film.
