Just hours after comedienne Rosie O'Donnell released a statement appealing for the public's help in locating her missing teenage daughter, Chelsea O'Donnell was found safe in a New Jersey home on the late hours of Aug. 18, Tuesday.
Barnegat Police spokesman revealed that they got a clue from the investigators about a possible presence of the missing teenager in a Jersey Shore community home. When the police arrived at the spot, they were reportedly met with hindrance as the unidentified person who opened the door denied her presence in the house.
The police insisted to search the house when the 17-year-old appeared and left with police without any incident and and even declined medical attention. The teenager was said to be unaware of the police search going on for her, Daily Mail reported.
Although Rosie is said to have a vacation home on the Jersey shore, it is not yet clear whether the teenager was found in the same house. Her relationship with the housemate also is not ascertained yet, Fox News reported.
Chelsea, Rosie's adopted daughter, was reported missing since Aug. 11, when she apparently left home with her 6-month-old therapy puppy, a 9-pound black terrier named Bear. Her whereabouts were revealed when she contacted her near ones with a new cellphone which led police to believe that she was present at the Jersey Shore.
The teenager was reported to be suffering from some sort of mental illness and had not been taking her medication, Rosie's website said.
Earlier in March, the 53-year-old was in the news when Chelsea's biological mother claimed that she was coerced by her then-husband and biological father of the child to give her up for adoption.
Rosie fired back at the woman saying that the adoption was done as per law and , in fact, she has always encouraged the teenager to remain in touch with her biological mother and is disappointed by the way she brought the matter in public.
