"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" director J.J. Abrams had a lot to talk about Gwendoline Christie and her "Episode VII" character Captain Phasma at the 2015 D23 Expo. The presentation also unveiled new poster for the movie giving a glimpse of John Boyega's Finn, Daisy Ridley's Rey, Adam Driver's Kylo Ren and Harrison Ford's Han Solo.
Fans know Captain Phasma is a pilot of First Order and she will be a villain in the movie, played by the "Game of Thrones" actress. Gwendoline Christie will be adorning shiny metal armour for the role. The armour was unveiled at the expo. Entertainment publication Collider published several shots of her costume. Speaking at the convention, J.J Abrams said how glad he was to work with Christie. "I can only say that Gwendoline Christie is my favorite. She just killed it. You think, "Well, what? she's wearing a costume." J.J. Abrams said (via Science Fiction).
"But it's a lot to wear and to have a performance when you're wearing that requires a different kind of skill set and an additional talent, and she's got it. It's an incredible thing to work with her. I am glad that a character has been designed that is visually as stunning as that is, because she deserves it and the fans do to. When I first saw that design my mind was blown because it looked so undeniable," the director continued.
Meanwhile, the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" poster by artist Drew Struzan teased several leading characters. For months, speculations around John Boyega's character Finn are running rampant. Bustle suggests that Finn, who is holding a blue lightsaber in the poster, is a Jedi or a "Jedi-in-training." It is also said that Finn's lightsaber resembles that of with which Luke Skywalker battled in "Star Wars: A New Hope." The website speculates that could Luke be Finn's mentor or Obi Wan.
Fans must note the report lacks confirmation from the associated persons. Thus it is wise to treat the information as mere speculation.
