Jacksonville overcame an inspired opening quarter by the Pittsburgh Steelers in their preseason opener on August 14 at their home stadium of EverBank Field to escape with a win, 23-21, as per Heavy.
The Jaguars' offense still centered on young quarterback Blake Bortles, who was somewhat inconsistent during his first preseason game this year. Still, Gus Bradley squeaked out a win with a strong 14-point second quarter.
Eli Manning and the Giants struggled in their preseason opener against the Cincinnati Bengals, dropping a 23-10 decision.
Even when Manning was replaced by second-string signal caller Ryan Nassib, the team still could not produce on offense, as reported by SB Nation.
Since this is the preseason, it is expected that Tom Coughlin is not deterred by their poor plays although he would have wanted to see signs of success every now and then.
Bradley seems more serious in these games as he is using them to finalize his starting lineup in the season.
