The Tile tracking app

The Tile mobile app is a tracking device for iPhone and Android units that helps to find lost items that are hard to locate, by sending the Tile network a notification. It will activate every user's mobile device to start searching for the object it is attached to, including a smartphone, keys, or purse.

This is the second-generation Tile device. Upgrades include 90-decibel beeps so it will be easier to find items even when they are in a backpack or buried under objects. When the item is located the searcher will get an alert on their device, but the person near it will not be notified.

Tile's web app can help when users have lost their smartphone and Tile gadget. Users can also convert their phones into a virtual Tile.

Consumers can soon get a Tile when buying a T-Mobile smartphone, according to Press Examiner. After users log into their Twitter account, they just Tweet what item they most often lose, and then include the tag #UnLost.

Tile's logo contains a hidden button. When a user double-taps it, the smartphone will ring if it is within Bluetooth range.

If the lost item is out of the phone's Bluetooth wireless connection, users can check another smartphone or the Web to find the last place the gadget was spotted.

The new version includes a tone that is three times louder than the previous unit, and a wider range. It can now function within 100 feet (30 meters).

T-Mobile will likely put the Tile gadget on sale soon. However, the $25 app is already available in retail and online stores, according The Verge.
