Joining the ranks of the Beatles, Take That and Spice Girls, one of the most popular all-boy bands of the present times, One Direction, appears to be heading for a split. According to the reports, the band members, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan, are planning a hiatus of one year starting in March to work on their own projects.
"They are taking a hiatus so they can work on individual projects for a while but they are not splitting up," E! News quoted a source, who further added that the group will work together in future.
However, there will be no new tour for the band's fifth album, which implies that their performance at Sheffield's Motorpoint Arena on Oct. 31 might just be their last full concert.
A slew of TV performances and spots are also lined up till the end of the year when the band members will be seen together. After the year-end festive break, the boys will get back to fulfil their promotional commitments for their record label in Feburary before parting ways till indefinite period.
Although the group has promised that they fully intend to get back together at some time in the future, it seems that the band has crumbled down with the sudden departure of its former member, Zayn Malik, who is believed to be working on a solo album with acclaimed music producer Naughty Boy.
While Styles has been offered lots of lucrative projects from Hollywood, Tomlinson is being considered to be a judge on "X Factor" for its next season. Payne is likely to work on his song-writing, producing and DJing skills, The Guardian reported.
