The world of Shingeki No Kyojin (Attack on Titan) has always been shrouded with mysteries. Keeping these questions unanswered up to now is what makes the Hanji Isayama award-winning manga series intriguing apart from the gore and intricacy of the politics within the wall.
For hardcore followers of Shingeki no Kyojin, these mysteries serve as fuel to their imagination, driving them to point of extreme obsession for clues they thought would lead them steps closer towards solving arguably the most bugling questions of all - the existence of the world.
The first live action adaptation of Shingeki No Kyojin has already made their way to the silver screen last week. And while the film has given fans a total treat in terms of pulsating action and nerve-wracking suspense, the aftermath of the titans invasion of Shiganshina District also left a clue that sparked debates about the true nature of the titans and the world they living in.
The Helicopter Clue:
What's a helicopter doing in a storyline set during the medieval period? We know the great Renaissance man Leonardo Da Vinci conceptualized the prototype designs of the helicopter, but the industrial model of the aircraft had not been manufactured until the early 90s.
Therefore, it's safe to assume that there were no helicopters hovering the sky during the medieval period, and yet the film showed a helicopter falling among the rubbles from the wall.
The presence of a helicopter in the attack on titan live action is certainly fascinating, but this isn't the first time an aircraft was featured in the series. In one of closing songs of Attack on Titan Season 1, jet plane-liked objects also appeared in the mural painting at the end of the credits.
Again, helicopters and planes weren't fully introduced until the early part of the 20th century. Therefore, its presence in the film suggests there was actually an advanced technology that existed in the world before the creation of the wall.
It's an eerie theory, but I have a feeling that helicopters and planes were used to drop bio-chemicals weapons to turn people into titans, only that it backfired and pushed humanity on the brink of extinction. Realizing the ill-effects of technology, the first Reiss King created the walls out of thousands of titans (through their hardening ability) and then wiped the memories of the world.
It's a bold guess. Still, there are already clues pointing readers to that direction. With the Survey Corps already commencing their final attempt to retake Wall Maria on Chapter 72 of the manga series, it's just a matter of time for these mysteries to be solved, and a bulk of it can be only found in Grisha Yeager's basement.
