Google Nexus 5 (2015): Android 6.0 Marshmallow Will Make A Huge Difference to The Upcoming Nexus Smartphone

The developer preview of Android 6.0 Marshmallow has given clues that the new operating system can make a huge difference to the upcoming Google Nexus 5 (2015).

According to latest reports, the Google Nexus 5 (2015) will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and will have a more powerful battery. Android Marshallow will boost battery life of devices that will gets its update.

According to a Computerbase report, the battery standby time of Nexus 5 increases by three times when it runs on first developer preview of Android M.

The battery of the Nexus 5 smartphone running on Android Lollipop was down by 24% when kept on standby for 48 hours and 12% when left for 24 hours. The battery of the Nexus 5 handset running on Android Marshmallow was down by 4.5% in 24 hours and 9% in 48 hours.

Android 6.0 Marshallow has a Doze feature that automatically places mobile phones into a deeper-than-normal sleep. When the smartphone goes into deep-sleep mode via Doze, it will not get updates and battery-draining features and apps will be temporarily disabled.

App Standby is another power-saving feature that is being introduced in Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which is automatically activated when the smartphone is unplugged. The feature works by disconnecting apps that are inactive from network support, suspending pending and open jobs. Once the owner plugs in their phone, the apps affected by the App Standby feature will resume normal operations.

In addition to running on Android Marshmallow, the 2015 Nexus 5 will have a 3180 mAh non-removable battery. Therefore, it appears that users of the forthcoming Nexus smartphone will not face battery problems.

According to latest reports, the Nexus 5 (2015)  will have Android Pay, fingerprint sensor, 2 MP secondary snapper, 13 MP rear camera, 3 GB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor and a 5.2-inch screen.

The upcoming smartphone will have 64 GB internal memory, Bluetooth 4.2. and NFC, GizmoChina reported. The Motorola-made Nexus 6 got strong criticism for its price. However, according to various reports, the upcoming Nexus smartphone will be priced below $500.

Also, several reports suggest that the new Nexus 5 will be made by electronics maker LG. The smartphone is expected to release in October of this year.
