‘Project Runway,’ Season 13 Sean Kelly Wowed Audience With Outstanding Creations At NZ Fashion Week

Sean Kelly has made a grand debut at New Zealand Fashion Week on Aug. 27.  The winner of "Project Runway," season 13 returned home to present his first collection since the US reality television show last year.

Kelly presented 25 garments before an audience of approximately 700 people at NZFW and leaving the spectators awed as The Stuff New Zealand reported.

According to his profile on Mylifetime Kelly left his native Hawera at 17, completing high schoolin Denmark, where he developed keenness for fashion. Kelly returned to Wellington to start a design degree at Massey University. Two years in, Kelly put his degree on hold, returning to Denmark to work for Danish designer Henrik Vibskov. Vibskov hones his skills and rough out Kelly's creativity.

Kelly then moved to London to work for Alexander McQueen in the menswear department. After his job at McQueen, he returned to Wellington to complete his degree and then left for New York soon after graduation.

Kelly received 2013 Design Excellence Award at Massey University. Kelly arrived in New York looking for a retail job.  While looking for work on an employment website; Kelly saw an advertisement asking for designers for the next season.

Kelly not only participated in the show but won the thirteenth season judged by supermodel Heidi Klum, Marie Claire creative director Nina Garcia, and fashion designer Zac Posen. Kelly impressed Klum and mentor Tim Gunn on the show, remarkably designing an outfit with dye built into the seams that transformed from white to multihued when "rain" fell from the ceiling.

At New Zealand Fashion Week Kelly repeated his success and wowed everyone watching the show. "Project Runway," winner planned an extraordinary ramp walking plan for his presentation. Kelly's models come out in row and stand before the mirrors placed at the end of the runway before returning to stand in front of them, staring at their own mirror images for the duration of the show.

 The first group presented white and blue, designs. After that the designs got sexier and more appealing, with bondage and lingerie inspired ensembles coming out in hot red and black pieces. The show concluded with the last model appeared with a sensuous red, net dress draped over a nude model.

Kelly posted a picture from the show on Instagram expressing his happiness with the caption "Beyond Happy!  Could not have done it without."

Kelly's Favorite style icons are Tom Ford, Raf Simons and Magadalena Frackowiak is his Favorite supermodel muse. His work is featured on the website; www.theseries.co.
