$1,200 LG Watch Urbane Luxe Boasts 23-Karat Gold Body, Alligator Strap

LG Watch Urbane Luxe is a luxurious smartwatch.

When the LG Watch Urbane was released, the smartwatch was receive with rave critical reviews and some critics even called it's the best Android smartwatch in the market. LG is now pushing the envelope even further by releasing a $1,200 model adorned by 23-karat gold.

The new luxurious device from LG will be dubbed "Watch Urbane Luxe" and will sport the same specs as the regular Watch Urbane. In order to justify the hefty $1,200 price tag, the smartwatch boasts a body made of gold, its strap made from alligator leather, and a shiny lacquer case to which the company claim will add a sense of exclusivity to the device.

The LG Watch Urbane sports a traditional analog clock face with P-OLED capacitive touchscreen and a resolution of 320x320 pixel. The smartwatch has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset comprised of a quad-core 1.2GHz processor and an Adreno 305 graphics processing unit. It has 4GB of internal storage and one gigabyte of RAM. Communication feature include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and near field communication.

LG Electronics vice president and head of marketing communications Chris Yie told The Verge, "Wearable devices shouldn't be thought of as an extension of one's smartphone but an extension of oneself."

Yie added that owners of the luxurious Urbane Luxe will be part of an exclusive club. Only 500 units will be made. LG is tapping the help of Reeds Jewelers in order to design and create this luxurious item.

The LG Watch Urbane Luxe will be unveiled at the upcoming IFA Conference in Berlin, according to Tech Crunch.
