U.S. President Barack Obama

Caitlyn Jenner and Kim Kardashian, make way for the newest person to become a reality star. While the current crop of reality stars joined TV shows to become a celebrity, for this person, it's the other way around because he is already a celebrity about to take part in a reality TV show.

U.S. President Barack Obama is taking a crash course in survival techniques as part of his three-day trip to Alaska, reports Washington Post. He will guest in Bear Gryll's reality show where Obama is also expected to discuss the impact of global warming in this state. Gryll is an ex-British soldier and a survivalist.

The main objective of his joining Gryll's show is to increase awareness on the negative impact of climate change. In his radio address on Saturday, the president stresses that Alaskans are already living with climate change.

The president notes in the White House fact sheet that "Higher average temperatures are diminishing the range of winter sea ice, allowing heavy storm surges that sea ice once kept at bay to batter the Alaskan coastline, and interrupting the winter hunting season for Alaska Natives."

People's Ethical Treatment of Animals criticized Obama's participation in Gryll's show as "demeaning" and "sexist." The animal rights group there are other ways for the White House to get the president's global climate change message across other than being a reality star.

Besides guesting in the NBC show, Obama would also revert the name of Mt. McKinley to Denali which was its former name and still widely used in the state. He would also announce a $375,000 Department of Interior (DOI) grant for the Kuskokwim River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission and launch a youth program under DOI.
