"Outlander" actor Sam Heughan has recently surpassed English comedian Ricky Gervais with 16 million votes in an online poll naming him the TV Champion 2015.
According to RadioTimes.com, the competition went on for three days and fans showered their love on the Scottish actor by casting millions of votes. Maximum vote were reportedly cast in the final round of the competition. Grevis received 42 percent votes.
Winning the competition was a surprise to Heughan, who told the website that he is "honored" to win the title and even thanked the "dedicated" fans of the show and he cannot thank them enough. He said, "Many have no fingers left due to intense voting. 'Tapadh leibh' to you all."
Also, Heughan congratulated the other competitors, saying. "A true list of the most popular and greatest shows/cast on TV."
Meanwhile, Heughan's "Outlander" co-star Caitriona Balfe recently received the Entertainment Weekly award for playing nurse Claire Randall. Earlier this year, the actress also won Best Actress in a Television show at Saturn Awards.
Heughan and Balfe's show "Outlander" has been renewed for second season. They will be shown becoming parents and will struggle to adjust in a foreign land.
"I think that having to figure out as a couple how they remain connected and keep their bond strong in [the] face of all these different adversities," Irish Independent quoted Balfe at the San Deigo Comic Con. "I think that's kind of the main theme of the second season."
"Outlander" season 2 will have 13 episodes and will be based on "Dragonfly in Amber."
