"The Amazing Spider-Man" star Andrew Garfield recently weighed in on the pressure he received from Sony when he was tasked to play the titular role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

In an interview with the Playlist, Garfield revealed that he was up for the challenge of playing Peter Parker and he still is until today. For him, the opportunity came only once and it was crucial for him to accept the role.

However, this does not mean though that Garfield is not happy with where he is at the moment. According to the actor, his life has become freer after he left "The Amazing Spider-Man" franchise.

"The pressure to get it right, the pressure to please everyone... it's not going to happen. You end up pleasing no one, or everyone just a little bit... So that aspect of it was a bummer. Especially for the group of us trying to infuse it with soul, trying to make it unique, something that was worth the piece of entry," he said.

Meanwhile, according to Cinema Blend, Garfield said that he believes part of the failure of the franchise had to do with the fact that he was not able to portray his role properly.

"I never felt like I was able to do enough. And I couldn't rescue those films... even though I didn't sleep. And I wanted to... Not to say that I need to rescue those films, but I couldn't make them as deep and soulful and life-giving as I could ever dream," he said.

Sony recently partnered with Marvel in the upcoming reboot of "Spider-Man" starring Tom Holland.
